Self Defense Tips Against AllegationsAs we discuss domestic violence, we must talk about self defense tips against allegations. As I said on the previous page, the very best defense is a well planned offense. When abusers inflict pain, they often do it in a way that no marks show until hours, or days later. As a victim, you're only thinking about survival. In survival mode, you aren't thinking about the marks you are making. Unfortunately, when the police are called, victims can be accused of being the abuser. It is another way abuser's manipulate the situation to maintain control. Be smart about how you defend yourself. Remember, you have five (5) defense options. If you fight back, do just the minimum to get free and safely away. Leave the rest to your attorney and the courts. Do not let the threat of an accusation stop you from defending yourself, or calling the police. Be very honest when you talk to the police and explain in detail what was said, and done by your abuser. It is also important that you explain your actions. Please make sure you act only in self defense. Your abuser will make them self look good while sharing partial facts to blend in the truth. You must speak up for yourself, if you do not want to be arrested. The police report will be part of your paper trail of abuse. The police did not see what happened. As embarrassing as it is, for your safety and the safety of your kids, you must tell the truth. I highly recommend reading through all of the different aspects of advocating, from when the police arrive all the way through the court process before a violent situation occurs. go to self defense from self defense tips |
