Verbal AbuseVerbal abuse could be considered the most powerful form of abuse. It never leaves bruises, but has the power to change and control a person completely. Do the words below sound like love to you? How many times do I have to tell you! If you’d just use your head - I wouldn’t have to get mad! You are wearing that? We are spending the evening with gorgeous performers that graduated modeling and finishing school. Whatever made you think that was in style? You certainly talk a lot. Do you really think anyone cares about anything you have to say? Next time, talk to me before opening your mouth! You make us both look bad!! You cry at everything/nothing - you are so manipulative!! I made this money! I will spend it how I want. If you leave me, you leave with nothing and will get nothing from me. Don’t think for a minute you are getting any of my money. If you ever try to leave me, I’ll find you! And when I do, I’ll take our son and give him to a relative in a remote part of my country and you will never see him again. Verbal abuse has nothing to do with love! Abusers use threats, or thoughts to control and manipulate (this is where you see their thought process and intentions). They use lies to alienate you from others, and deliberately tear you down as a person. You know that saying about putting a frog in a pot of cold water …and how slowly bringing the water to a boil will kill the frog? ...Verbal abuse has the same affect on victims. We don’t realize the damage that words are causing until we have no fight left within us and realize we are dying on the inside. You need to decide when you have reached your limit and get help before your situation hits the boiling stage. Words are powerful! Words can build up and create life, or tear down and destroys life. How often do you look in the mirror and compliment yourself? When was the last time you looked at your cute childhood pictures and remembered a time when you loved yourself? Are you - your own best friend? If not, no one will ever be able to love you as much as you do… you need to make loving yourself a priority!! You are worthy and deserving of love. It is so important that you combat the negative in your life with positive affirmations. You are one of a kind – and wonderful!!! |
