This is an abbreviated summary:

In 1973, when I was 16 years old, and long before domestic violence shelters and prevention education agencies were common, I married an extremely violent abuser.

In 1987, I escaped, although he had promised to kill me and our five children if I ever left him.

The long term, generational impact of domestic violence is imprinted into children behaviorally, emotionally and cognitively, and reinforced via repetition and learning; in short, I found that leaving was only a beginning.

In the years since I fled, I have worked ten years in multiple capacities for a domestic violence agency and authored several books. The primary book of the Torn Trilogy is Torn From the Inside Out (can google it or go to Amazon), in case you prefer the long version.
